Katrina Day 2

Day 217:
Our group worked on insulation all day, so I don't have any pictures from that. But this was a night the State group was able to go into downtown, eat good food, and hang out.

The Mississippi River!

Most of the group.

Goofing around at Cafe Du Monde!

Katrina Day 1

Day 216:

This is the church we met at every morning during our work week. The sanctuary was flooded. It had been cleaned out and someone with a wonderful sense of humor left this giant teddy bear on the balcony. :)

Our group worked with Miss Joanna and her wonderful nephew, Elton, came to help after school.

She told us some pretty crazy stories about her experience. I show this picture because she told us about her new hardwood floors she had put in within a year of living in her house. Then Katrina hit. Now this is what's left.

There's still a lot of cleaning up to do in New Orleans.

French Quarter

Day 215:
Spent some the day walking around downtown. Beautiful city. It's just kind of sad that the city is so well-known for partying and having open alcoholic beverages on the streets that leads to having tacky and trashy souvenir shops that really takes away from the beauty of the city's architecture and tradition.

Anyway, here are a few captures from the day:

View of Jackson Square and St. Paul's Cathedral behind it.

Closer view from within Jackson Square.

Inside of the cathedral.

Lunch at Petunia's, a little French restaurant!

Auntie Cindy is a lady at church who leads an early morning Bible study with the college students. She is such an insightful and Godly woman. And she cooks some deeeelicious food too!
